Lisa R. Jaskol is a judge of the Los Angeles County Superior Court.  She was appointed to the bench by Governor Jerry Brown in 2016.

Judge Jaskol began her legal career clerking for Hon. Harry Pregerson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  After her clerkship, she joined the law firm of Irell & Manella LLP as an associate.  In 1991, she joined the law office of Horvitz & Levy LLP, where she practiced for ten years, first as an associate and then as a partner.  In 2001, she joined Public Counsel Law Center as the directing attorney of its Homelessness Prevention Law Project.  In 2004, she returned to private practice as a partner with Horvitz & Levy LLP.

Judge Jaskol left the Horvitz & Levy firm in 2007 to become the founding directing attorney of Public Counsel’s Appellate Law Program.  The program was created to provide appellate self-help assistance in a clinic setting as well as pro bono legal representation on appeal to selected indigent civil litigants.  Judge Jaskol remained in that capacity until her appointment to the Superior Court in 2016. 

Some of her other memberships have included the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers and the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA).  Judge Jaskol is also an advisory member of the Legal Services Trust Fund Commission and she previously served as a member of the Judicial Council’s Appellate Advisory Committee and as Chair of the Appellate Courts Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Judge Jaskol graduated from Yale Law School and received a B.A. magna cum laude from Bryn Mawr College and an M.A. from the University of Chicago.
